After decades of dedicated service, Renny Whittenbarger, Supervisor of Career and Technical Education (CTE) for Cleveland City Schools, has announced his retirement following the 2023-2024 school year. Renny's career spans more than 26 years in the education sector, leaving an indelible mark on students and staff members across the district.
Renny joined Cleveland City Schools in August 1997 as an Instructor at Cleveland High School, where he taught Project Lead The Way Engineering classes for over 14 years. In December 2011, he transitioned to the role of CTE Supervisor, where his leadership and expertise have been instrumental in shaping the landscape of career and technical education in our district.
During his tenure as CTE Supervisor, Renny has effectively managed, developed, and coordinated a diverse array of CTE programs, including Accounting and Business Technology, Health Science, Criminal Justice, Automotive, Cosmetology, Digital Media Production, Mechatronics, Culinary Arts, Communications, and Work Base Learning. His responsibilities extended beyond curriculum development to encompass strategic planning, career awareness initiatives, workforce development, and federal program administration, notably Carl Perkins IV.
Renny's commitment to excellence and innovation in education is underscored by his academic achievements. He earned a Master's degree in Education in Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University in 2005.
Throughout his career, Renny has exemplified professionalism, dedication, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed. His impact on the Cleveland City Schools community and beyond will be felt for years to come.
