LeeAnne Shurette has been appointed as the head softball coach for Cleveland High School, bringing with her a rich legacy of experience and passion for the sport. With a coaching career spanning over 20 years, Shurette has dedicated herself to developing young athletes and fostering a love for softball.
Softball is a deep-rooted tradition in the Shurette family, and LeeAnne has exemplified this heritage through her own athletic achievements. As a standout pitcher, she made a significant impact on the field during her college years at Tennessee Tech. Her exceptional skills and leadership earned her the prestigious title of Woman of the Year, Tech Athlete of the Year, and she has been inducted into TN Tech’s Sports Hall of Fame, a testament to her dedication and excellence both on and off the field.
Now, as she steps into her role at Cleveland High School, Coach Shurette is poised to inspire and lead a new generation of softball players, instilling in them the same passion and commitment that has defined her illustrious career.
Coach Shurette is excited to take the reigns of the program she has been a part of for the last three years. “I believe coaching is a ministry and that we should use the sport to teach valuable life lessons. I’m thankful for the opportunity to continue working with our group of talented and dedicated young women. All of the former players have laid a foundation for us to continue to build a championship program so that down the road, all future Lady Raiders will have a chance to continue the legacy.”
“We are so excited to see Coach Shurette and the Lady Raiders continue to build on their recent success. Within three years as an assistant coach, she has already been an integral part in building one of the most successful softball teams in CHS history,” principal Bob Pritchard said.
Athletic Director Al Morris added, “This was an easy decision. Knowing Coach Shurette and what she brings to the table, we knew we already had one of the best softball coaches within our school building. I’m excited to work with her within this new capacity.”
Congratulations, Coach Shurette! 🥎
It was a wonderful evening celebrating our CHS Best of Preps athletes. It's a great day to be a Raider!
